Hey, I'm Elora.
Your Encourager.
I know this journey because I've lived it. After a tug-of-war with alcohol, I started my sobriety journey on May 29, 2007 ... and was discharged from the military two months later.
All at once, the pride from the uniform, the alcohol to cope, and the consistent routine—all the things that once defined me—were gone.
I know what it’s like to feel lost after service and unanchored in recovery. To wonder if you’ll ever feel like yourself again.
If you’re a Black woman veteran navigating recovery, you might be feeling the same way.
Sobriety and transitioning out of service can bring up so many identity shifts we weren’t prepared for.
That’s why I wrote this guide.
It doesn't matter if you're just getting started or if you've been on this path for a while; this guide was written for you and meets you where you are.Â
